Emilio Izaguirre has given a cryptic interview in Honduras that has blamed agents for his transfer from Celtic to Al Feiha of Saudi Arabia.

It seemed an ideal move for the player and the club with the 31-year-old picking up a lucrative new contract and Celtic getting a transfer fee to match their investment seven years earlier from Motagua of Honduras.

With Kieran Tierney taking over as first choice left-back Izaguirre was downgraded to back-up status with little prospect of an extended run in the team.

Al Feiha are seventh in the 14 team Saudi Arabian league but it seems that the August transfer had more to it than meets the eye.

In an interview with Diez of Honduras Izaguiire revealed: “There will be a day that I will talk about my departure from Celtic. I do not want to because it was due to personal problems which I had with agents in England, that is why I left. I had a hard time leaving.

Brendan Rodgers got angry with me because he came to me and it was regret that O left. But I left the doors open and as they say you never know what will come tomorrow.”

Izaguirre joined Celtic in August 2010 and made an immediate impact in the problem left-back position.

In 2011 he swept the boards at the Player of the Year awards but early in the 2011/12 season he broke his ankle playing against Aberdeen.
