A list from OMG has confirmed Celtic as the most successful trophy winning club in Europe- pipping Barcelona to the honour with 102 trophies won by the end of last season.
There is no doubt that Real Madrid with 12 Champions League and European Cups are the most successful club of all time but with 102 senior trophies by the end of the 2016/17 season the hoops place among the greats is secure.
Celtic have won the Scottish title 48 times outright but were denied many more honours by a club that fielded ineligible players before they went into liquidation bringing their dubious history to a shuddering halt.
Not content with 102 trophies Celtic have already added the Betfred/League Cup to their roll of honour and are favourites to win the Scottish Cup and SPFL title before the season ends.
A little distance behind the record breaking hoops is Barcelona with 90 trophies including 24 domestic titles, five European Cup/Champions League and three FIFA World Club titles.
The leading English club in terms of trophy winning is Manchester United who have won the league 20 times, the FA Cup on 12 occasions and the European Cup/Champions League three times.
