Celtic are in talks to upgrade Kris Ajer’s contract.
The defender is under contract until the summer of 2020 but that deal was signed before he broke into the first team.
After making 24 top team appearances this term Brendan Rodgers is keen to reward the 19-year-old with a new deal to reflect his new status.
After making a few appearances here and there Ajer was put into central defence after Celtic’s 4-0 defeat to Hearts in December and has held his place ever since.
According to a report in The Sun talks are already underway with the players agent Tore Pedersen about a new contract.
Ajer was Ronny Delia’s final signing in February 2016 but had been replaced by Rodgers by the time he moved to Celtic from Start.
Rodgers converted Ajer from a midfielder to a central defender with his development accelerated by a loan spell last season at Kilmarnock.
