Dundee’s accounts for 2018 are set to get a 33% boost from Celtic.

Yesterday the Tayside club published their accounts for the year to 31 May 2017 and laid bare the poverty of the Scottish game.

Dundee are among the bigger clubs in Scottish football with realistic aspirations to be in the top six in the Premiership.

That didn’t happen last year with turnover of just £4m despite selling Greg Stewart and Kane Hemmings to English clubs.

This years accounts will again include £350,000 for Celtic appearing in the Champions League, it is paid a year in arrears and also include a handy £1m bonus for the transfer of Jack Hendry.

Neil McCann bleated about the lateness of the bid from Celtic, as his club accounts show without that £1m coming in things could have been very bleak at Dens Park this year.

Celtic have did well from the business, a former academy player has improved so much in a six month spell that Brendan Rodgers considers that Hendry can reach Champions League level.

Next time McCann is moaning about that transfer deal he should be grateful that Celtic never upped sticks leaving his club looking for other ways of funding an annual loss in the region of £350,000.

Perhaps he might even cheer Celtic on in the Champions League qualifiers?
