Willie Collum and Craig Thomson will be watching the World Cup Finals from home.

Yesterday FIFA announced a list of 99 officials to operate in Russia without a single Scot included on named.

UEFA will be represented by referees from Germany, Turkey, Russia, Holland, Poland, Spain, Serbia, Italy, Slovenia and France.

Collum had been expected to be in Russia even though he was eliminated from Euro 16 after the first cull of officials.

It seems that the Lanarkshire based official missed out after Douglas Ross had to cut back on UEFA appointments after criticism that refereeing was taking priority over constituency matters for the Tory MP for Moray.

FIFA assesses referees as part of a team with Ross having to drop out of Champions League and Europa League appointments meaning that it was effectively a new ‘team’ that FIFA were assessing.

Collum’s performance in Celtic’s recent 3-2 win over Sevco at Ibrox attracted a lot of criticism with Sean Goss and Fabio Cardoso escaping with yellow cards for brutal attacks on Kieran Tierney and Moussa Dembele.
