David Murray’s former media guru has warned Dave King that investors will bite his hand off if they are offered 20p per share.

Throughout his 23 years in charge of Rangers (IL) Murray relied heavily on Jack Irvine of Media House to ensure that the correct message was being sent out.

From six star hotels and hover pitches through to bids for Ronaldo and Gianlucca Vialli that never quite materialised the message was always strong that Murray was a mover and shaker rather than a tax scammer and fly-by-night.

Murray’s trouble free Ibrox reign is the greatest testimony to Irvine’s work possible with bus tycoons Sandy and James Easdale using the same source to cover up the chequered early days of their business careers.

The Greenock based brothers were ousted for trying to bring some common sense to Ibrox but still retain significant shareholdings in a company that any sensible person would admit is worthless if not trading while insolvent.

Speaking to the Herald Irvine said: “Nobody with the slightest financial acumen thinks the shares are worth 27 or even 20p. That’s why many shareholders are tempted to bite King’s hand off.”

The quote came after King issued an advert claiming that he was about to make good on the ruling from the Court of Session and Takeover Appeal Board.

In another delaying tactic a prospectus is being finalised with King’s former business partners on the Ibrox board keeping a distance from the South African maverick.

With £17.7m of soft loans and a £3m loan from Close Brothers it takes an incredible leap of faith to believe that a firm with a turnover of £29.2m is viable.

Should King come good on his offer of 20p per share the Easdale’s will be at the front of a corporate queue to cash in their chips.

Failing that not even a billionaire from Motherwell would throw good money after bad on the Govan based Titanic.
