It has all gone ominously quiet over at Ibrox as Dave King prepares for his last week in the blue room of dignity.

By close of play next week the South African based criminal will have to stump up £11m to underwrite a share issue and find an accountant to sign off the interim results until 31 December 2017 as a going concern.

Pulling off either achievement would be admirable, not even a billionaire from Motherwell could dream of the double.

Since he watched in pain as Celtic racked up their fourth Ibrox win under his leadership the King has fallen silent.

When his appeal against the Court of Session’s decision to enforce the ruling of the Takeover Appeal Board was thrown out the game was over for King.

For three years he has strung the gullible along, always postponing decisions and payments in the hope that someone else would fund a new era of success at Ibrox.

The fans ponied up their season ticket money, the three bears led by Douglas Park took two years to see through King before he had to turn to Close Brothers.

Next week some Comical Ali style accounts will be published and sent to the SFA. With the 2011 UEFA licence under review and a new regime possibly coming to power the SFA may be forced to follow UEFA rules.

There won’t be a share offer made to minority holders next week.

After that King will be gone, holed up in South Africa giving a once a year interview on what went wrong at Ibrox.

Enjoy him while you can, as King departs who could pick up the baton to follow on from Dave Murray, Craig Whyte and Charles Green with a gullible support cast hanging on to every word from the next man promising to take the tribute act back in their ‘rightful’ place.
