Brendan Rodgers has revealed a key element of his Ibrox plan- the strength of his bench.

With Stuart Armstrong back from injury the former Dundee United man could be sitting alongside Patrick Roberts, Charly Musonda, Scott Sinclair and Odsonne Edouard.

Every manager likes to talk about it being a squad game but with that sort of strength on the bench today’s Celtic side will be about a lot more than the starting XI.

Speaking to the club website Rodgers said: “Whatever team we put out, we’re going to have a really strong bench and that’s really important, at this stage of the season in particular.

It’s not necessarily the starting XI but it can be the finishing XI which sees the game through for you. So, whoever isn’t starting, the guys on the side will be ready and prepared to come in.

We’ve got lots of options and we just hope we can put out the right team and affect the game if we need to in the game to get the result.”

The suspension of Mikael Lustig means that Rodgers will have to decide on whether to bring in someone to play at right-back or switch to a back three and swamp the midfield.

Scott Sinclair hasn’t missed out on many big matches but could lose out if Rodgers goes with a back three pushing Kieran Tierney into a wing-back role.

Celtic head to Ibrox six points ahead of the tribute act with a game in hand as they head towards a seventh successive title.
