Brendan Rodgers has dropped a huge hint about his summer transfer plans.

Odsonne Edouard proved to be the match winner at Ibrox and has drawn lavish praise from his manager.

Rodgers takes a particular interest in developing young talent into first team material and clearly likes what he sees in the 20-year-old on loan from Paris Saint Germain.

It was a brilliant finish,” the Celtic boss told the club’s TV station. “We were able to exploit the space in behind. He shows great feet and he is a big, big talent, the boy.

He hasn’t had a regular run but when he has played, look at his goals to games ratio. He is one of the best young players I have worked with – his movement, his touch, his all-round play.

He has made himself a hero with the Celtic supporters, which is great for him.”

During the summer Rodgers was reluctant to bring in a third striker but the injury problems of Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths have justified the move for Edouard.

At the time of the loan move there was talk of a £7m fee being agreed between Celtic and Paris Saint Germain but those agreements are rarely in place.

There is little prospect of Edouard breaking into the PSG side next season but Celtic could face competition from elsewhere if the 20 year old maintains his Ibrox form.

Celtic’s trump card is the prospect of playing in the Champions League as well as working with a manager with a strong track record in developing young players.
