Anthony Ralston has joined Dundee United on loan until the end of the season.

The defender hasn’t played first team football since September but has played a couple of games recently in the Development League and is guaranteed plenty of action at Tannadice.

Ralston will make his debut tomorrow at home to Inverness Caley Thistle with United still having 12 matches left to play and hoping to earn a play off place which could result in four or six more games.

United replaced Ray McKinnon with Csaba Laszlo in November but have fallen way behind St Mirren since the turn of the year although a 3-1 win at Queen of the South in midweek took them back into third place.

St Mirren are currently 17 points ahead of United and although they have played three extra matches they look certain to win automatic promotion.

Ralston will find a couple of ex Celts at Tannadice including Lewis Toshney, James Keatings, Scott McDonald and Paul McMullan.
