Celtic slam Sevco in pictures

It was a Beautiful Sunday to remember for Celtic fans everywhere as Brendan Rodgers' side delivered the 2017/18 SPFL title. The 'heartbreak' of last Saturday's defeat at Hibs was washed away by a five goal hammering of Sevco that won't ever be forgotten by those that witnessed the display. Less than two months ago the Sevco dressing room was rocking with news that they would be playing Celtic in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup- it's doubtful if any of those players want to see or hear from the hoops any time soon. Rodgers set out to get his side playing in a certain fashion, in this match it all came good with only Jak Alnwick keeping the scoreline down. For fifteen minutes either side of half-time Celtic hit top gear finding the net four times with little sign of resistance from opponents who looked beaten from the moment Odsonne Edouard opened the scoring. The absence of Moussa Dembele brought sighs of relief from Ibrox but his deputy wasn't too shabby as Edouard showed that his cameo role at Ibrox last month wasn't a one off. One prize still remains for this season, Motherwell are likely to provide tougher opposition that Sevco but if Celtic get close to top gear at Hampden next month there is only one outcome. Party time He would be just as happy sitting behind the dug out enjoying the fun of another title win. But when he puts on his working clothes he is transformed, a manager streets ahead of anyone else in Scotland and bringing joy to thousands. When the team was announced not many fans expected Odsonne Edourd to be starting the match, once again a case of 'in Brendan we trust'. Mega-bhoy Is he a player-fan or a fan player? Not that it matters to KT. There is nothing artificial about KT on the park or off, he is still getting better on a weekly basis and remains as attached as ever to the supporters he is happy to sit among whenever the chance crops up. It is now becoming a traditional part of any title success to give the Mega-phone to Tierney- what will he be like in 2011? Young McCrorie's nightmare All his life he wanted to play for a club from Ibrox but it's unlikely that a 9-0 aggregate with a red card thrown in was ever part of McCrorie's dreams. The hype surrounding the young defender has been incredible with the club only too willing to play along with the outrageous claims first made by Pedro Caixinha. He managed to last 90 minutes on Sunday but the scars will run deep, it's doubtful if any of the Sevco players will recover sufficiently to play in a winning side against Celtic. Priceless When he scored at Ibrox it was a special moment- on Sunday he showed that there is much more to come in his career with a double that took the wind away from the tribute act. Without question the pressure was on the 20-year-old as he stepped in for Moussa Dembele ahead of fans' favourite Leigh Griffiths. Whatever his future may hold he'll always be fondly remembered at Celtic Park, he has scored more against Sevco this season than the Ibrox side have managed against the hoops. Prize guys It is all about team work and the squad, on the left of this picture you'll find Jonny Hayes who was the best of the rest last season- in the summer he joined Celtic. Jack Hendry and Scott Bain made similar moves from Dundee as Brendan Rodgers built on the best squad in the country. None of the Sevco stars would make it onto the Celtic bench, the benchmark has been raised significantly with all the signs being that Rodgers will be out to boost his squad further in the summer. Jason shadows He snapped away at ankles for 90 minutes but it was a case of damage limitations for the Sevco midfielder as his side ran out a distant second to their city neighbours. A few weeks ago the home dressing room at Ibrox was rocking with the news that they had been drawn against Celtic in the Scottish Cup, rarely has confidence been so misguided. Holt is probably one of the better players at Ibrox but wouldn't be a first pick at Hibs or Aberdeen which illustrates the scale of the problem waiting for Steven Gerrard or whoever is next in line in charge of Sevco. The blue room boys KThree years ago they were greeted as heroes as they helped elevate Dave King up the marble staircase into the blue room of dignity- yesterday they were left looking around for their Liverpool supporting chairman. They may be right good Rangers Men but their pockets aren't deep enough to compete with Celtic never mind deliver on the expectations of the People. Tough times are ahead, there are signs that the media is getting impatient- if that spreads to the supporters then it may require more than a blazer and brogues for protection. 5-0 McGregor Another stunning performance from the homegrown midfielder. A year ago he scored in successive matches at Hampden and Ibrox, yesterday he repeated that with the fifth and final goal on home soil. McGregor is priceless to Celtic, much more than a utility player. He can play centre mid, wide left, left-back or tucked in behind the striker- wherever he plays he'll always time his runs into the penalty box to perfection and rarely fails to find the target. Nice one Odsonne A job well done. Back in August there was a strong debate about whether or not Celtic required a third striker. Edouard has answered that question in style- now the question is whether or not Celtic can get a deal together to make the move permanent. After his Sevco goal double there is legitimate comparisons being made with Moussa Dembele, it's all win-win as far as Brendan Rodgers is concerned. Champions There was some social media laughter when this banner showed up last week at Easter Road, who would bet against the sponsors preparing next seasons winning banner by changing a couple of numbers? This season's numbers haven't compared favourably with last season's record breakers but when the time has come this team has delivered with seven wins out of seven at Hampden, Pittodrie and Ibrox. There has been a few rumbles and grumbles about performances this term but yesterday the players again created special memories as they took their goal tally to 12 in seven weeks against the noisy neighbours from Govan.
