Henderson on target but Bari held to 1-1 draw

Liam Henderson’s Italian lessons continued yesterday with the former Celt opening the scoring in the 1-1 draw with Salernitana with his parents watching from the stand.

The midfielder has settled quickly into life in Serie B on and off the park with Bari looking like they will have to settle for a play-off spot.

Yesterday’s draw was greeted with some discontent from the home fans with second placed Palermo, in an automatic promotion place, just four points ahead.

Henderson has started 11 matches and scored twice since his January switch which disappointed a couple of side’s in the English Premiership.

Hibs were also keen to strike a deal but despite the emotional pull of rejoining the club that he helped to win the 2016 Scottish Cup Henderson opted to break new ground by heading to the south of Italy to continue his career.

Next weekend Bari are away to 16th placed Pescara with eight matches left to play in the regular season.
