They’ve always preferred to attack the messenger rather than the message with Scott Brown a particular target.

Once upon a time fans of Rangers (IL) chanted at Hibs supporters how they were going to take their captain, for over a decade they’ve choked on those words.

Stories of the young Rangers (IL) fan from Fife have offered them some consolation but deep inside it has been eating them up.

With four matches left to play this season Sevco have to travel to Celtic, Aberdeen and Hibs, their remaining home match is against opponents who have taken seven points out of nine from them, two of those matches were played at Ibrox.

Despite the win over Hearts on Sunday very few Sevco fans belief that their side will finish the season in second place, even fewer care for second prizes even if it excites Graeme Murty.

Another summer rebuilding job awaits at Ibrox with the new manager having Dave King’s promise of ‘bringing instant success’ to deal with.

Asked if Sevco were the second best team in the country Brown told the Daily Record: “No. Hibs are. They came up from the Championship and have shown everyone how good they can be.

They have a top-quality manager, a good young team. If they can keep that together who knows what they can do?

They definitely have given us our toughest games this season. They play good football but are up for the battle.

The two strikers are playing really well together, they understand how each other play.”

Sevco players can show their anger on Sunday, it’s unlikely that the Celtic skipper will notice.
