Leigh Griffiths won the biggest laugh of the night at the Celtic Player of the Year Awards in Glasgow.

The striker missed out on the main awards which went to Scott Brown and Kieran Tierney but when it comes to the banter he’s as deadly as when presented with a scarf in front of an unguarded goalpost.

During the ceremony a video presentation was played where the players reveal their own nominations for Player of the Year.

Between the nominations of Stuart Armstrong and Calvin Miller Griffiths revealed that Pedro Caixinha earned his vote!

The bull-fighter from Portugal provided great material for the banter years with his short spell in charge of Sevco including two derby day humiliations- within a week.

A 2-0 Scottish Cup semi-final defeat was cringeworthy for many Sevco fans but six days later that was topped by a 5-1 win for the hoops at Ibrox although four burly stewards did prevent Griffiths from tieing a scarf to the goalposts at the Broomloan Road end of the stadium.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.
