Seventeen years on from losing out to a late penalty ‘created’ by Nicola Amoruso there was no sympathy for Juventus last night as they went out of the Champions League in agonising style.
The Turin side lost the first leg 3-0 at home to Real Madrid but staged a remarkable comeback to level the aggregate scores in the Bernabeu after an hour of play.
Real are used to staging those sort of comebacks but were rocking to be on the receiving end after apparently killing off the tie in the first leg.

Was over at this game and even the Juvenile fans knew it wasn’t a penalty. The power of bribery!

Deep into stoppage time Medhi Benatia brought down Lucas Vazquez in the box with Cristiano Ronaldo netting from the penalty spot with 97 minutes showing on the clock.
Goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon was sent off before the penalty could be taken with his replacement Wojciech Szczesny unable to keep the penalty out.
After a further two minutes of stoppage time the final whistle blew of Juve’s Champions League hopes.
Perhaps Martin O’Neill smiled at the misfortune of Buffon and Juve.
