Kilmarnock have issued a statement expressing their disappointment at being sent to Ibrox for a third time.

Late yesterday afternoon the SPFL finally issued their fixtures with the Ayrshire side losing out on a lucrative home match.

Under Steve Clarke Killie have stormed their way into the top six taking the place of St Johnstone in last season’s table.

Clarke has already enjoyed a win and draw away to Sevco and has his side pushing strongly for fourth spot.

This morning the club stated: “Kilmarnock Football Club wishes to express its disappointment following the publication of the Scottish Premiership post-split fixtures.

“As has already been alluded to there is always the possibility of an imbalance of home and away fixtures. This year we see a relative balance being struck with the reallocation of additional home matches to another team in the league, which ultimately results in Kilmarnock FC facing three trips to Ibrox with Rangers having made only one trip to Rugby Park.”

Kilmarnock can move to just four points behind Hibs if they beat Hamilton at home on Saturday.

With all of the top six still to play each other the Ayrshire side are likely to make further inroads towards the top with Hibs, Aberdeen and Sevco looking over their shoulders.

Yesterday Clarke was named SPFL Manager of the Month for the third month running with former Celt Stephen O’Donnell collecting the Player of the Month award.
