Brendan Rodgers has told Arsenal that he is already in the best job in the world.
Since Arsene Wenger announced that he was stepping down at the end of the season there has been constant speculation linking the Irishman with a move to London.
Rodgers is just one match away from a double treble after Celtic crushed Sevco 5-0 to claim the SPFL title.
Ray Parlour joined Alan Brazil on the TalkSport Breakfast Show this morning and after discussing the latest derby demolition the inevitable Arsenal question was brought up.
“I’m up here on a Monday morning, manager of Celtic and believe it or not the sky is blue in Glasgow, I’m in the best job in the world!” Rodgers replied when asked if he had been approached by Arsenal. “I’m absolutely loving it.
“I’ve got a huge respect for Arsenal as a club. When I started my coaching career, Arsene was just coming into the club and I learned so much as a young coach watching him, he was class, how he dealt with everything.
“It is a club that I have huge respect for but for me I’ve always said that I’m so happy here at Celtic, I’m in a job that I love. It’s a huge club, big expectancy, big pressure.
“I’d love to work again in the Premiership one day, but I’m hoping I will be coaching for another 20 odd years. I’m so happy, I have a great loyalty with the board here, they’ve been so supportive of me.
“From the first day that I walked in here the supporters have given me everything, I feel a loyalty to them to keep moving the club forward, to keep progressing.”
Rodgers has lost just three domestic matches in two seasons alongside twice guiding Celtic into the group phase of the Champions League.
Although there is clearly a bigger salary available at Arsenal the Irishman is picking up a salary at Celtic that is comparable with most in the English Premier League.
With a basic salary of around £2.5m a combination of domestic success and playing in the group phase of the Champions League can almost double his salary through bonuses.
