Brendan Rodgers has refused to rule out a summer move for Lennart Thy.

According to recent reports the striker is being watched by Celtic scouts but the hoops network covers dozens of games across the UK and Europe every weekend.

Thy is currently on loan at Dutch side VVV Venglo from Werder Bremen where he has scored a modest 7 goals in 28 appearances.

With transfer inflation going through the roof Celtic have been forced to look off the beaten track with chief scout Lee Congerton previously working for SV Hamburg.

Celtic will be involved in Champions League qualifiers in three months time with work to strengthen the squad an ongoing process.

“Yeah (we are now looking at recruitment), you have to plan forward,” Rodgers admitted to Sky Sports. “Every club is doing that. We’ve been doing it for a period of time now.

“Myself, Peter Lawwell and Lee Congerton have sat down and had our local and international scouts here to make sure we’re focused in on what we’re looking for in the summer.

“If there was (interest in Thy) I still wouldn’t tell you. There is so much speculation around, and players I haven’t even heard of sometimes. I think the game has already started linking players with clubs.

“There is always speculation and that one, probably, is one of many.”

Thy played for Germany up until u20 level but has struggled to establish himself in senior football, switching between St Pauli and Werder Bremen.

At the age of 26 the chance to move to Celtic would be very appealing with Werder likely to be easy to deal with since the player is out of contract in June 2019.
