Tales of the Union Bears storming Sevco’s Player of the Year awards in Glasgow city centre last night were typically exaggerated.
Social media was filled with some wild reports but the only evidence to emerge suggests a group of around a dozen angry fans approaching the venue and being refused entry.

Inside Glasgow’s Hilton Double-tree Hotel it didn’t seem much of a fun night for the fat cat fans who came to recognise the efforts of their heroes over the course of the season.
Amusingly the backdrop on stage featured three of the biggest flops of the season including on loan Benfica ace Dalcio who has enjoyed one brief substitute appearance since his debut against Progres Niederkorn.
Hold on – so the three players they have on stage at the Rangers POTY dinner are Cardoso who’s highlight of the season was a broken nose, Halliday who… is Andy Halliday and Dalcio who’s only 90 mins was against Progres? More angry fan statements are expected this week in the build up to the final home match of the season against Kiilmarnock on Saturday.
For the players there is just 13 days of suffering to endure until the final SPFL fixture of the season then they can jet off on holiday before returning to stop eight-in-a-row, perhaps under new management.
Star winger Danny Candeas picked up the Player of the Year award following illustrious names such as Darren McGregor who picked up the honour in 2015.
