Celtic lost out 4-2 to Hibs in a penalty shoot out tonight at Easter Road as the Edinburgh side reached the final of the SFA Youth Cup.

After two hours of goal-less action Jack Aitchison and Kerr McInroy missed from the penalty shot and although Ross Doohan saved one Hibs penalty it wasn’t enough as the holders crashed out.

Mark Hill and Regan Hendry came back from their loan clubs to start the match while there was a very welcome return from injury for Mikey Johnston while Calvin Miller came in at left-back.

Celtic opened strongly with Johnston performing strongly in his first appearance since picking up a thigh injury in January but Hibs recovered from a shaky start to start testing the hoops defence.

It was a compelling tie despite the lack of goals with both sides performing well up until the penalty box.

The pattern of the first half continued after the break with Celtic having the edge in possession and chances but neither side was able to find the net.

Celtic finished the 120 minutes down to ten men after substitute Broque Watson was injured but held on to take the match into a penalty shoot out.

Celtic: Doohan; Duffy, Welsh (Bell 46), Deas, Miller; Hill, McInroy; Johnston (Watson 59), Hendry, Henderson (Crossan 84), Aitchison
