Celtic’s youthful Development League side enjoyed a return to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Partick Thistle at Airdrie.

Second half goals from Jack Aitchison, substitute Ciaran Diver and Kerr McInroy gave the hoops full points as they await a date for their SFA Youth Cup semi-final against Hibs.

With that match postponed last Thursday Tommy McIntyre’s side had enjoyed a full week of preparation for today’s game with a further seven Development League matches still to be faced.

Neither side had much in the way of chances during the first half with Aitchison providing the main danger to the Thistle goal.

Ten minutes into the second half a long range shot from Ewan Henderson struck the post with Aitchison sending a snap shot just wide a few minutes later.

The breakthrough wasn’t far away and arrived in the 58th minute. A powerful run down the left from Broque Watson ended with his shot at goal being blocked, when the ball came down Aitchison was perfectly placed to drive it into the net from 15 yards out.

The Thistle defence were struggling to cope with Watson on the wing with Celtic’s second goal coming from that source with substitute Diver perfect;y placed at the front post to divert the ball into the net.

With three minutes left to play McInroy raced onto a ball played behind the Thistle defence before sliding his shot out of reach of the Thistle keeper.

Celtic: Doohan, Duffy, Welsh, Deas(c), Church; Bell, McInroy; Watson, Henderson (Potter 80), Mazis (Campbell 55); Aitchison (Diver 62).

Subs: Diver, Campbell, Willison.
