Rod Stewart wasn’t slow to celebrate Celtic’s double treble success- flying the flags then meeting Pope Francis in the Vatican.

The final whistle had barely blown at Hampden when the flags were literally flying at Chez Stewart.

This afternoon it was off to Rome where he spent time with the Pope reflecting on the double treble and saying a prayer for the same again next season.

An unforgettable morning, totally blessed by #popefrancis

A year ago the entertainer was the headline act at The Hydro as Celtic celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Lisbon Lions defeating Inter Milan.

Stewart has been a fairly regular attender at matches over the season dependent on his work commitments.

Last month he upset some fans in the posh seats when he joined in a huddle with Celtic cruising to a 4-0 win over the tribute act.

Stewart has been a long term supporter of the hoops and became friendly with players such as Jimmy Johnstone, Kenny Dalglish and Bobby Lennox in the early seventies.

Celtic’s season ticket renewal campaign was launched with ‘You’re in my Heart’, a hit for Stewart in the seventies as the background track.
