Celtic hit back at King

Celtic have come up with the perfect response to Dave King by highlighting the club’s own range of playing cards!

The glib and shameless liar yesterday told a group of selected reporters that if Celtic ever failed to win the SPFL title their business would collapse like a pack of cards.

House of cards was probably the phrase that King was meaning to use as he demonstrated a complete failure to understand Celtic’s audited accounts.

In successive seasons under Ronny Deila the hoops failed to reach the group phase of the Champions League but not only avoided liquidation but went on to win the SPFL title.

Fraser Forster and Virgil van Dijk were sold following those failures allowing the club to post a profit.

As well as having playing assets to offset the absence of playing in the group phase of the Champions League Celtic currently have around £30m on hand at the bank.

In the year to 30 June 2017 Celtic had a turnover of £90m as opposed to just £29m at Ibrox, that gap is expected to widen in the year to 2018 with the sell-on fee for van Dijk greater than the money Sevco brought in from selling Barrie Mackay, Martyn Waghorn and Joey Garner.
