Ryan Christie has said his farewell to Aberdeen .

The midfielder completed a second loan stint at Pittodrie and now faces an uncertain future with 12 months left on his Celtic contract.

Christie has been named in Alex McLeish’s international squad to face Peru and Mexico which would suggest that he is unlikely to have a major role to play at Celtic next season.

Derek McInnes had made some hopeful comments about signing the attacking midfielder but Aberdeen wouldn’t be able to get close to the transfer fee or personal terms on offer from England.

Christie scored four goal in 24 SPFL starts and four substitute appearances for Aberdeen with his appearance coming in last week’s 1-1 draw with Sevco at Pittodrie.

The likely departure of Chaly Musonda back to Chelsea could open the door towards Christie being offered a new Celtic contract with Tom Rogic and Stuart Armstrong also having just 12 months to run on their current deals.
