Cummings loan was a waste of time

Jason Cummings can forget about relaunching his career at Nottingham Forest.

The fun loving striker moved to Sevco in January with the aim of finding the net in order to compete for a place in the Forest side next season.

One goal in the SPFL plus a heavy deflection proved to be a disappointing return for the former Hibs striker as Sevco laboured their way to third place in the table.

Sevco have been slow to discuss a new deal with Steven Gerrard set to get his contact book out to bring in the biggest names in England.

Discussing the fate of Cummings and two players sent on loan to Bolton, Forest boss Aitor Karanka told the Nottingham Post: “It has been a shame, because they have not really played.

The young players like Walker, Clough and Cummings were on loan to play; to check them and what they could offer.

We wanted them to report back for pre-season and show us the progress they had made.

They are young, they are talented but they need to play. If they were unable to play at Bolton or at Rangers, imagine how difficult it is going to be for them to play here.”

Cummings was one of the four loan signings made by Mark Allen during the January transfer window.

Jamie Murphy has made his move permanent but it seems certain that Cummings has played his last match for the tribute act with Russell Martin and Sean Goss also discarded after their loans expired.
