The simmering feud between Keith Jackson and James Traynor has exploded onto social media.

A decade ago the two men were colleagues at the Daily Record but since the man that coined the phrase succulent lamb quit the newspaper for a role at Ibrox an uneasy peace has generally been maintained.

Jackson has been banned from press conferences and match reporting at Murray Park and Ibrox for some time but has still been able to unearth a number of stories from inside Ibrox as well as promoting various swoops and revolutions.

While Jackson is forever associated with his claim that Craig Whyte enjoyed off the radar wealth his then colleague Traynor was no less of a cheerleader for the man who duped Dave Murray into selling an institution for just £1.

Traynor signed off at the Record in January 2013 with a scatter-gun attack on almost everyone as he moved directly into a spin doctor role under Charles Green at Ibrox.

After Green resigned Traynor was shown the door but won the PR contract after guiding Dave King to power promising a regime of accountability and transparency.

It is believed that the fault lines between the two men has widened due to the recent departure from the blue room of Paul Murray and the continuing suspensions of Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace.

With a big name manager now in place at Ibrox Traynor can exert a greater degree of control over the narrative emerging from Ibrox with Jackson continually attacking Dave King in print.

A stream of moonbeam like transfer stories are expected over the coming weeks to back up the Gerrard revolution, it remains to be seen whether Jackson decides to go against the grain and take his criticism of Traynor from social media onto the pages of the second best selling newspaper in Scotland.
