Neil Lennon has highlighted the anti-Catholic and anti-Irish singing of the Sevco support after being sent to the stand during a 5-5 thriller at Easter Road.

When Jamie MacLaren equalised for Hibs in the 90th minute the former Celtic boss raced onto the pitch impersonating an aeroplane.

Referee Andrew Dallas sent Lennon to the stand with the Hibs manager happy to explain his reasons for celebrating.

Well they make it personal don’t they?,” he told The Scotsman. “You all hear it. “They are singing sectarian songs at me. It’s just a little bit of ‘have some of that’.

It was worth it. Trust me. Bobby was fine about it. I should not get a ban for that. I was just letting them know how pleased I was to get the equaliser. “I enjoyed the moment. It was a big jumbo jet there.”

In 2006 UEFA banned the anti-Catholic anthem The Billy Boys which revels in being knee deep in the blood of Catholics.

The SFA were instructed to impose that ban but were quick to look the other way when it returned to football grounds with the tribute act.

In 2011 UEFA banned Rangers (IL) supporters from attending a Champions League qualifier away to Malmo after they had been singing their anti-Catholic anthems during a Europa League match away to PSV Eindhoven.
