No cash for Gerrard

Steven Gerrard won’t have a penny of new money when he finally turns up at Murray Park next week.

After a blaze of publicity to announce his appointment it was assumed that ‘fresh investment’ was on it’s way.

Anyone aware of Dave King’s colourful business record knew that there was no chance of fresh money coming into the company with directors Barry Scott and Paul Murray resigning before they could get pictured with the former Liverpool u-18 coach.

Rather than perhaps face some difficult questions when he presented Gerrard on May 4 King’s media people announced to selected friends that the South African tax crook would be hosting a separate media event three days later.

All sorts of investment options were speculated on over the weekend with money pouring in from the Middle East, Far East, East Calder and East Kilbride.

With King involved not a penny will be going into the toxic club.

Straight answers aren’t really King’s thing with his and picked audience told that a £6m share issue would happen in June, June starts next week.

Even the most basic rights issue does require some documentation, so far there hasn’t been a note or announcement for the June rights issue.

There won’t be a share issue next month or even the month after with King involved.

As he looks around the dressing room on day one of pre-season training perhaps Gerrard will wish that he had spent slightly longer google searching for glib and shameless liar rather than roar ‘Bring it on’.

Sevco has still to announce the launch date for their new kit produced by Hummel.
