Image for Rodgers reveals that Musonda is back at Chelsea

Brendan Rodgers has admitted that Charly Musonda may not play again for Celtic.

The on-loan midfielder wasn’t on the bench for today’s 3-1 win away to Hearts prompting speculation that his days in Glasgow are over.

Musonda joined Celtic on loan from Chelsea to a fanfare in January but the return to fitness and form of Tom Rogic has severely restricted his opportunities to play.

A shoulder injury was the reason for the midfielder’s absence today but after starting just three matches there must be a question mark over whether Musonda will return to Celtic for next season.

Explaining today’s absence Brendan Rodgers told BT Sport: “Charly hurt his shoulder, in the week while he was away and he’s obviously gone back to Chelsea to get treatment on that.

He may or may not feature between now and the end of the season. He is obviously a Chelsea player, they are wanting to look at it and make sure that he is ok.”

Without Musonda Celtic won today’s match 3-1 after coming from behind to beat Hearts.

Scott Brown and James Forrest were the targets for brutal assaults from Steven Naismith but a bigger concern could be the fitness of Odsonne Edouard.

The on loan PSG striker went off midway through the second half with what appeared to be a hamstring injury which would rule him out of the Scottish Cup Final against Motherwell in 13 days time.
