Sevco have been warned that they will need to find £3m to sign Connor Goldson.

After the humiliation of failing to sign Martin Skrtel the pressure is on the Ibrox money men to snap up the Brighton defender to launch the Gerrard revolution.

The south coast club are well aware of the dire state of finances at Ibrox from the Jamie Murphy saga and want £3m up front before taking into account add-ons for playing in the group stage of the Champions League.

In the last year of audited accounts Sevco posted losses of £6.7m on income of £29.2m. With no more soft loans offered by the three bears or Dave King in February the company turned to Close Brothers for an emergency loan to complete the season.

According to the Daily Record:

Brighton will not stand in the player’s way if a deal is agreed but want the right price for their man and it is believed a starting figure of £3m will be needed to get negotiations properly under way.

Goldson has been attracted hugely by the opportunity to work with Gerrard in Scotland’s top flight.

And now it is down to Rangers to meet the Brighton demands to get a deal done and make Goldson the fourth signing of the new manager’s revolution.

The other signings of Gerrard’s revolution are Allan McGregor, Jamie Murphy and Scott Arfield.

It’s believed that Sevco’s second bid for Goldson was in the region of £1.5m staged over three payments.
