Rod Stewart has performed the popular Celtic fans’ song Grace on stage!

The entertainer is a regular at Celtic matches where the song has been sung regularly over the last two seasons.

Stewart is always keen to join in with a huddle despite sitting in the posh seats and has now added the emotional ballad to his repertoire.

The song tells the story of the romance between Grace Gifford and Joseph Plunkett at the time of the Irish Rising.

Rebel Plunkett was due to be shot dead by the occupying British forces at Kilmainham Gaol at noon on Easter Sunday 1916.

Gifford, a non-Catholic, on hearing the news bought a wedding ring and with the help of a priest was able to see Plunkett and get married shortly before he was murdered by the British forces.

Started by the Green Brigade early in the 2016/17 season the song has been picked up by fans of the Ireland national team giving further publicity to the events of 2016.
