Marvin Compper is set to relaunch his Celtic career in Austria.

According to a report in The Sun the defender is likely to be feature in the three match tour which will prepare the hoops for their Champions League opener against Alashkert on July 10.

Celtic signed Compper in January from RB Liepzig with high hopes that his experience would have an immediate impact on the defence that had shipped goals during the Champions League group phase.

An injury picked up during the winter break training camp in Dubai delayed his debut while Kris Ajer and Jack Hendry cemented their places in Brendan Rodgers’ plans.

Compper finally made his debut against Morton on 3 March but after an 83 minute appearance he wasn’t seen again.

Last week the one time Fiorentina defender turned 33 but with Dedryck Boyata and Mikael Lustig on duty at the World Cup Finals Celtic are short on experience in defence with the first competitive game of the season just over a fortnight away.
