After a flurry of angry statements Dave King is expected to lose interest in conflicts of interest.
The South African based criminal will be familiar with Andrew Dickson and Campbell Ogilvie- both of whom know all about conflicts of interest.
Ogilvie kicked off the Discount Option Scheme used to disguise payments to Tore Andre Flo and Ronald de Boer before graduating to the so called EBT payments. Or disguised remuneration as the Supreme Court described the scam.
Before leaving Ibrox he picked up a £95,000 EBT payment. As Managing Director of Hearts he slipped his Rangers (IL) share across the kitchen table to his wife in a clear breach of SFA rules.
As President of the SFA even Stewart Regan said that he was heavily conflicted- a code name for having a conflict of interests. The conflict between his bank account and dozens of friends and colleagues with the rule book.
Even more conflicted was Dickson who replaced Ogilvie as the link man between Rangers (IL) and the SFA/SPL.
For six years Dickson managed the so-called EBT payments, as a sideline he sat on the SFA Licensing Committee.
That is the committee that was ‘duped’ into awarding the Ibrox club a UEFA licence in 2011 despite having an overdue payable of £2.8m to HMRC. Last month the tribute act picked up two Notice of Complaints on behalf of the club currently being liquidated.
As last summer’s Craig Whyte trial demonstrated that bill was well known inside Ibrox.
Did Dickson stay silent on the issue or did he steer his colleagues on the Licence Committee away from the truth to give Ally McCoist a crack at the 2011 Champions League?
Perhaps accountability campaigner King could publish the paperwork to clear Dickson of his conflict of interest or the man himself could speak up for the first time since he gave evidence to the First Tier Tax Tribunal.
Dickson is currently a member of the Scottish FA Football Regulatory Advisory Group. As the SFA deal with the 2018/19 licence issue perhaps Dicko may declare his own conflict of interest to assist King’s campaign?
