Steven Gerrard ducked out of media duties as Jon Flanagan prepared to jet in to sign for Sevco.

The defender was released from his Liverpool contract a year early after being found guilty of a prolonged attack on his girlfriend.

In court a video was shown of Flanagan kicking the woman as she lay on the ground but six months later the 25-year-old is ready to sign up to the Gerrard Revolution.

Most Liverpool fans were disgusted by the actions of their player but Anfield ambassador McAllister wants to give Flanagan a fresh start at Ibrox.

I feel that it was unacceptable, most definitely,” McAllister told The Sun. “It was unacceptable and a really poor decision that he made in that episode.

But he deserves a second chance. He showed remorse, he put his hand up and has taken his punishment. He wants to get on with his life and his football.”

It appears that after splashing out on Connor Goldson last week the Ibrox transfer war-chest has been emptied.

Flanagan has been shunned by English clubs disgusted by his actions and fearful of a supporter backlash if they are linked with the defender.

Like former Strangeways inmate Joey Barton Flanagan can be assured of a warm welcome at Ibrox and hero status if he decides to be critical of Brendan Rodgers or Scott Brown.
