Andy Goram believes that Steven Gerrard the player would dominate any midfield in Scotland!
Barry Ferguson recently came up with a similar claim with neither former player appearing to have learned any lessons from watching Nico Kranjcar or Joey Barton crashing spectacularly at Ibrox.
Gerrard’s last game for Liverpool was three years ago before he moved to LA Galaxy where he found the going too much and decided to retire from playing.
The former Liverpool youth coach has Andy Halliday, Jason Holt, Ryan Jack, Jordan Rossiter, Greg Docherty and Graham Dorrans on long term contracts.
None of those stars would have got in the Hibs midfield last season with Goram believing that Gerrard at 38 would be an improvement.
“If I was Steven, the first thing I’d be doing would be getting my boots out,” he told The Sun. “He’s ten times better than what we’ve got.
“He’s 38 but put him in. He’d dominate the midfield against any team.”
Discounting the theory that Dave King has no money the former Scotland keeper added: “Gerrard wouldn’t have come to the club unless he’d been promised a lot of money to get players in — though he might also need a lot to get players out as well.
“But he wouldn’t be up here if there was no budget. He’s started by getting McGregor and keeping Jamie Murphy.
“If someone like James Collins came — a dominant centre-half — and a good, hard-tackling boy in midfield, like Steven Gerrard, we’ll be all right.
“It’s exciting. You see players like Jermain Defoe being mentioned. Imagine the goals he’d score here but sorting the middle of the pitch out is the key. I go back to when Graeme Souness came.
“He brought in a goalkeeper, two centre-halves, midfielder, centre-forward.
“I’m excited by the prospect of Steven Gerrard coming to the club. He has the pedigree as a player and he’ll bring in a better class of player.
“Bringing in Gary McAllister’s a great addition. They’re a perfect couple. Gary Mac knows Scotland, he knows the Rangers set-up.”
A month ago King promised selected reporters that there would be a £6m June share issue to add to the war-chest. Five days into the month there has been no comment from the company or documentation for the issue.
Same Joey Barton pish here. He didn’t even dominate midfield in MLS – which is Scottish Championship Level. I await Stevie watch on opening match day… and he wins man of the match when not even playing. Get ready for sycophantic bullshit..then the crash
