Steven Gerrard’s Revolution has suffered another setback with Lucas Leiva knocking back the chance of a dream move to Ibrox.

The midfielder joined Lazio a year ago from Liverpool and has just been voted Player of the Year by the Italian side.

Gerrard targeted Martin Skrtel, Fernando Torres and Jermaine Defoe to lead the Revolution but will now have to add his old Anfield team-mate to his growing list of rejections.

A month after breezing in, and sharply out, of Ibrox Gerrard has still to land his first signing.

Director of Football Mark Allen has brought in Bosman stars Scott Arfield and Allan McGregor but has been unable to make any progress with Gerrard’s book of contacts.

The new Ibrox boss is expected to spend the remainder of this week at the Toulon Tournament as Sevco search for loan starlets ahead of their opening Europa League tie next month.
