Gary McAllister is convinced that Sevco’s insider knowledge of Celtic can deliver success to Ibrox.
The former Leeds United boss spent a short time on Brendan Rodgers’ coaching staff while Steven Gerrard wore the Anfield armband under the Irishman.
With six trophies to his name and a record of nine wins and two draws against three different Sevco managers it’s fair to say that Rodgers has the measure of the Ibrox outfit.
The Celtic boss is happy to share his knowledge with other emerging managers but there is a big difference between coaching class theory and making the right decisions on the touchline.
Rodgers demonstrated that in his last visit to Ibrox when two tactical switches after Jozo Simunovic was sent off exposed rookie Ibrox boss Graham Murty whose managerial career came to a halt that day.
Sevco fans are convinced that their high profile management team can push Celtic for honours with McAllister happy to fuel that notion.
“The facts are I know Brendan and three or four of his staff at Celtic who he had at Liverpool too,” the former Scotland skipper told The Sun.
“I know their methods. They leave very little to chance. They are very well prepared.
“Steven Gerrard and the guys he has brought from the academy at Liverpool will probably know them better.
“My period with Rodgers was only brief before Jurgen Klopp came in and took over. It is very interesting and I’m looking forward to it.”
McAllister will get his chance to put one over on Rodgers on match-day four when the tribute act visit the home of the champions.
