Micky O’Halloran is set to escape his Ibrox hell.

According to a report in The Sun the forward is expected to complete a loan move to Melbourne City in the next 48 hours.

Mark Warburton signed O’Halloran from St Johnstone in January 2016 but has been left out of the plans of Pedro Caixinha, Graeme Murty and now Steven Gerrard.

He spent the first half of last season out on loan at St Johnstone where he picked up the Player of the Month award for September but that wasn’t enough to earn him an Ibrox reprieve.

His stock at Ibrox hit rock bottom when he was pictured at the Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Motherwell with the Fir Park side apparently interested in a transfer deal.

Gerrard is looking to get rid of upto a dozen players with all of Pedro Caixinha’s signings on that list.

Director of Football Mark Allen would love to get high earners Eduardo Herrera, Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso off the wage bill but is likely to have to settle for loan deals with the Ibrox club paying the bulk of the wages.
