Sevco are confident of signing Connor Goldson in a £3.5m deal with Brighton.

According to a report in The Sun a transfer fee has been agreed with just personal terms to be resolved to make the Brighton reserve Steven Gerrard’s first signing.

Goldson was involved in three EPL matches last season, losing eight goals in the process, but has done enough for the new Ibrox boss to invest a club record fee in him.

Shoring up the defence that he inherited from Graeme Murty is a priority for Gerrard wth David Bates and Russell Martin leaving at the end of the season.

With Bruno Alves on international duty at the World Cup the only remaining defenders are Young McCrorie and Fabio Cardoso.

Goldson was a product of Shrewsbury Town’s Youth Academy with his displays earning him a £750,000 move to Brighton in 2015.

Now after 28 league starts in three seasons he just has to agree personal terms and pass a medical to take his place in the Gerrard Revolution.
