Lewis Morgan has still to kick a ball for Celtic but is already wanted on loan.

According to a report in The Sun the winger is wanted on a season long loan by new Sunderland manager Jack Ross.

Celtic paid £300,000 in January to St Mirren for the winger and instantly allowed him to move on loan to the Paisley side.

Brendan Rodgers has gone on record with his admiration for Jack who quit St Mirren last week to join Sunderland who will play in League One next season.

The Celtic boss will assess Morgan in pre-season training knowing that if he feels the 21-year-old is coming up short there is a ready made Plan B for his development.

I’ve been very fortunate that since Brendan came to Scotland he’s been very helpful,” Jack said.

I’m lucky in that I’ve been able to see him when he’s been able to fit me in. When our Championship season had finished, I went and saw him.

I had the opportunity to speak with Ipswich and spoke to him about that and the next steps to take in my career.

He’s been helpful and influential in giving me the encouragement to move forward.

He’s someone I’m lucky to be able to have as counsel when needed, as he’s had success in England and with Celtic too. As a young manager, that’s a tremendous thing to have.”

Morgan is currently on international duty with Scotland and made a substitute appearance in the 2-0 defeat from Peru.

Last season he was voted Championship Player of the Year after playing a lead role as St Mirren lifted the title by 12 points.
