At lunchtime yesterday the Celtic internet suddenly began searching for Armstrong Okoflex.

News of the young Irish prospect being at Celtic Park spread on social media as fans started to search for information after initial joy that a recently departed song may be revived.

Okoflex has a cosmopolitan background, being born and raised in Dublin but moving to Arsenal at a very young age to become part of their academy.

Internationally he has played for Ireland and England at youth levels while also being eligible for Nigeria which sounds very similar to the heritage of Karamoko Dembele.

Although he has been based in London for the last five years the 16-year-old will be well aware of Celtic’s presence in Ireland where the club has 17 partner clubs including four in Dublin.

The process of an international transfer at this level can be lengthy but after posing for pictures with a Celtic jersey the move seems to be almost complete.

Okoflex is eligible to play for Celtic’s u-17 side but is likely to be promoted into the Development Squad with everyone hoping that the first team can ensure another campaign in the UEFA Youth League which is the u-19 equivalent of the Champions League.
