Dylan McGeouch has thanked Hibs after signing a two year deal with Sunderland.

The midfielder made 27 appearances for Celtic but found his feet at Easter Road after initially going on loan to the Edinburgh side.

Hibs signed McGeouch on a permanent basis in 2015 with his three year contract ending last month.

The 25-year-old joins Sunderland as a Scottish Cup winner and Scotland internationalist after helping Hibs move from the Championship to the Europa League qualifiers.

McGeouch is one of the first signings of new Sunderland boss Jack Ross with goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin moving south at the end of his Hearts contract.

Despite back-to-back relegations Sunderland are strong favourites to win promotion with Ross taking St Mirren into the top flight in his first full season with the Paisley side.

The new Sunderland boss is keen to get Lewis Morgan on loan to the Stadium of Light but that move isn’t going to happen during the current transfer window.
