Tony Watt made a scoring debut for St Johnstone in a 4-0 friendly win away to Berwick Rangers.

Yesterday the former Celtic striker signed a one year contract with the Perth side and wasted little time making an impression.

Watt has spent time with three English League sides, three in Belgium and a short stint at Hearts since his famous Champions League goal against Barcelona.

After leaving OH Leven in January he spent time training with Aberdeen but it was St Johnstone that put a contract on the table.

Tommy Wright is completing the transition from his 2014 Scottish Cup winning side with veteran striker Stevie MacLean moving to Hearts at the end of last season.

Watt scored eight minutes into tonight’s match and will be looking to be in the starting XI for Saturday’s Betfred Cup tie at home to East Fife.
