Agent makes McGinn suggestion

Neil Lennon’s agent has urged Celtic to sign John McGinn!

Earlier this week Celtic had a bid rejected for the midfielder with last night’s Champions League registration deadline passing without any further moves.

McGinn has a year left on his contract and seems certain to leave Hibs this summer rather than walk-away on a Bosman next June.

Stuart Armstrong’s transfer to Southampton has left Celtic a man short in midfield but Brendan Rodgers is already well covered for options in that area of the the park.

Ryan Christie and Scott Allan have returned from loan spells at Aberdeen and Hibs while Eboue Kouassi is highly rated by Brendan Rodgers.

With Scott Brown and Olivier Ntcham the established midfield pairing it could be that the timing is just wrong for McGinn who has broken into the Scotland squad alongside half a dozen Celtic players.

A complication on the deal is St Mirren being due one third of the transfer fee for the midfielder but some creative use of Allan’s transfer value could see a deal pushed through.
