James Forrest has overtaken Billy McNeill into second place in the all-time list of Celtic European appearances!
The winger made his European debut in the less than memorable Champions League qualifier away to Braga seven years ago as Neil Lennon’s side crashed to a 3-0 defeat.
Forrest also played in the 2-0 home win over Utrecht that season but a 4-0 defeat in Holland brought the European ‘adventure’ for that season to a halt.
???? James Forrest is now 2nd in #CelticFC’s all-time European appearance table. He has jumped up from 4th after overtaking Bobby Lennox and Billy McNeill!

Two years later the winger made a significant contribution in the 3-2 win away to Spartak Moscow as the hoops enjoyed their only away win in the Champions League.
More recently he turned in a man-of-the-match performance last season at home to Bayern Munich with vital qualifying goals notched away to Rosenborg last season and at home to Shakhtar Karagandy in the 2013/14 Play Off match.
Scott Brown is at the top of the European appearance table with 90 matches, racing up on the blind-side is Kieran Tierney who last night started his 28th European tie.
McNeill’s appearances include two European finals and ten semi-final matches.
