John Hartson isn’t concerned by Celtic’s lack of activity in the transfer window.

So far Stuart Armstrong, Patrick Roberts and Erik Sviatchenko have left with only Odsonne Edouard signing up.

Without question Celtic have the strongest squad in Scotland but the ambitions of the support stretch beyond the domestic game.

Through a combination of circumstances Brendan Rodgers’ defensive options to face Rosenborg tomorrow night are badly limited.

A combination of World Cup duty, injuries and suspensions will force Rodgers’ hand but Hartson still expects his old club to invest long before the transfer window closes.

In the Evening Times he explains: “I wouldn’t be too critical of Celtic for not having added another centre-half by now – I still think they will before the window closes – because I am not entirely sure that you can envisage the circumstances that have left them so short for this game against Rosenborg now.

I still also expect that before this window closes that we’ll see John McGinn in a Celtic shirt. The midfielder wants to come, Celtic want him in and sooner rather than later a deal will be done for him. It has become the saga of the summer but you’d put your money on Celtic getting their man.”

Tom Rogic will be back in the Celtic squad for tomorrow’s match with Rosenborg following World Cup duty in Russia.

Mikael Lustig is back in training and is likely to be involved in next week’s return leg but Dedryck Boyata won’t be available until the start of the SPFL season next month.
