Dedryck Boyata is a transfer target for Lyon.

According to a report in The Sun the French side are keen on the Celtic defender who is in the final year of his contract.

Brendan Rodgers first mentioned getting Boyata onto a new contract in December but despite getting Tom Rogic and Kris Ajer onto new deals before the end of the season there was no breakthrough with Boyata.

After spending over a month in the company of players like Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne he’ll be well aware of the sort of money available elsewhere even though he will be on a much lesser salary.

If Boyata makes it clear that he won’t be signing a new contract Celtic will have to decide whether to sell the 27-year-old this summer or hold onto him and lose him for nothing next summer.

Rodgers has ruled out recalling Boyata from his holiday in Greece to help Celtic out of their defensive crisis for the Champions League qualifier against Rosenborg.
