Leigh Griffiths won’t be in the Celtic squad that travels to Norway today.

The striker resumed full training last Thursday after three weeks out due to a thigh injury but according to a report in The Sun he won’t be travelling with Brendan Rodgers’ squad to face Rosenborg.

Dedryck Boyata and Mikael Lustig have returned to training after World Cup duty, but are unlikely to be involved tomorrow night.

Striker Leigh Griffiths is back in full training, but he won’t travel to Norway.

While Odsonne Edouard is clearly the first choice striker Celtic are badly short of alternatives on the bench.

Moussa Dembele is likely to be out for another fortnight leaving Rodgers to look at improvising with James Forrest, Tom Rogic or Scott Sinclair as an alternative striking option.

Celtic travel with a 3-1 lead and are strong favourites to see off the Norwegian challenge as they did last season.

On that occasion a goal from James Forrest booked a place in the play-off round, this time around the winner will get a third round place against AEK Athens.

Celtic will be hoping that extra time for Griffiths at Lennoxtown will put him in line for a place against Livingston on Saturday in the opening match of the SPFL Premiership.
