Cristian Gamboa is in for a surprise return to first team duty against Rosenborg.
The 28-year-old made just three top team appearances last season but has been drafted into a new look Celtic defence.
With Jozo Simunovic suspended Jack Hendry will move inside to partner Kris Ajer with Gamboa coming in to play at right-back.
Despite his lack of club action last season the former West Brom and Rosenborg defender picked up 10 international caps including games against Scotland, England and three matches at the World Cup Finals.
Playing Gamboa allows Celtic to play in a similar defensive shape as they deployed against Alashkert with the big decisions to be made in attack.
Moussa Dembele’s absence is likely to be filled by Scott Sinclair although Tom Rogic is another option leaving Odsonne Edouard to play again as the sole striker.
Celtic will discover on Friday at a UEFA Disciplinary Hearing if Simunovic is to get any extra punishment for his red card against Alashkert.
