Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he is more interested in coaching and improving the players that he has rather than playing the transfer market.

So far making Odsonne Edouard a permanent deal has been the only incoming transfer completed by the Celtic boss.

Rodgers has helped generate a bank balance of around £30m from two seasons of success but won’t be forced into spending some of that cash.

Most Celtic supporters are looking to bring to see defenders brought in but by the time Celtic play in Europe next week, against AEK Athens or Cork City, they should have Dedryck Boyata and Jozo Simunovic available again.

Strikers Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele have been left behind from the squad that flew out to Norway although Jonny Hayes has been included.

After returning to training last week following his World Cup exertions Mikael Lustig is back in the squad and likely to be on the bench against Rosenborg.
